Quilting Practice-Mug Rug

This weekend I decided to pull out some left-over fabric from my patchwork travel pillow and try making a mug rug. I used In Color Order’s Scrappy Stack Mug Rug Tutorial for a guide. I really like the way hers looks, so I may have to make another one following her directions more closely next time.

I even made my own bias tape for the binding! It was a bit of a pain, but fun to see if I could do it :) I watched this video and used this blog to learn how to attach bias tape. I definitely need some more practice on how to start/finish attaching bias tape, but I think my mitered corners turned out ok!

Enjoying some coffee and donuts on my new mug rug!

    1. You are really on a roll! One of my goals, now that I have a Jones hand crank sewing machine (just a bit over the one hundred year mark) is to learn how to quilt in small bits. This would be a great project. Very nice job!
