Cards, Die Cutting, Holidays, Paper, Stamping

Merry Christmas!

How is it December 25th already! Despite this year being so much different than any other, it sure has flown by!

Our Christmas festivities have definitely changed. Instead of the family gathering at my in-laws home, we will be opening presents over Zoom. We usually help Nathan’s mom make Christmas cookies, but that didn’t happen this year. And I only made one batch of spiced pecans instead of two.

One thing I really wanted to do is make all my Christmas cards. That’s always my plan, but I usually get stared too late and don’t have enough time. I still started later than I wanted to this year, but I was able to make almost all of the cards I sent out!

When I saw the fun Merry & Bright kit from My Favorite Things, I knew what I was going to use for my cards! I did a lot of die cutting and I made about 30 cards with an assembly style approach. I still have lots of little light bulbs left over. :)

I basically used the same design, but switched up the cards with different patterned paper. Instead of using the whole patterned paper as a background, I cut a frame so I was able to use them on more cards. For some I inset the white panel within the patterned paper, and for some I used the smaller patterned paper as the background.

With the patterned paper background cards, I stamped the stacked “merry and bright” using different colors of Distress Oxide inks.

On the white panels, I stamped the script “merry and bright” with Gina K. Designs Amalgam Ink in obsidian.

i just made one card with this stamp, but it’s so fun. : ) I heat embossed the sentiment using WOW! Embossing Powder in bright white onto vellum.

I always like making cards for people, and I hope they enjoy getting them. :)

Have a wonderful holiday!
