Watercolor Happy Wishes

Hello! Several months ago I saw a video by Cathy Zielske where she painted a few quick rainbow backgrounds to create some fun cards. I gave it a try and created 4 cards using a pretty pearlescent paint set and two sentiment dies.

For each card I used a watercolor panel slightly smaller than my card base. You can’t really tell from the photos, but my card base has a shimmer look to it as well! Each sentiment was die cut 3 times to add a bit of dimension.

On this card I used pink & peach colors to paint the background, and a Happy Birthday die from Pink & Main.

With this card I tried making a diagonal rainbow (need to work on my rainbows!) and used the Best Day Ever die from Simon Says Stamp.

These cards used blues, greens & purples, along with the same dies used on the other 2 cards. I don’t like these photos as much, but they do show how lovely the shimmer is with this paint set. :)

I definitely want to try this technique again. It was fun and quick to create several backgrounds, and it will be nice to have some panels ready the next time I need a card. I think I will also try embossing a large sentiment before painting the background for a different look.

Thanks for stopping by :) Have a great day!

  1. Wow! These are SO beautiful. The combination of textures, colors, fonts, and kerning; every single element works together to create a little piece of everyday art. Such attention to detail, too. You’re incredibly talented (and thoughtful)!
