I guess I’ll have to settle for visiting Hobbiton someday :) It’s located on the Alexander Family Farm in Matamata, New Zealand. Hobbiton was constructed in 1998 for The Lord of The Rings Trilogy. I just loved how they created the Hobbit homes and village in the movies. 17 of the houses remain tucked into the hillside, and the sheep have decided to take them over.
Peter Jackson is currently directing The Hobbit, which will be released as a two-part film. Unfortunately, it sounds like the movie may not be filmed in New Zealand. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

Those sheep are too sweet! I’m glad that they’ve found a good home.
