Knit Away FA!

In a few weeks I’ll be joining some friends to knit hats with Kaps For Kendall.

Kaps For Kendall was created in memory of Kendall  to “raise money to fight Fanconi anemia, the disease that took the life of our sister, and to provide special hats for kids and adults, who have lost their hair from chemotherapy and radiation.”

From the Fanconi Anemia website:

Fanconi anemia (FA), named for Swiss pediatrician, Guido Fanconi, is a very rare, recessive genetic disorder…

Fanconi anemia is an inherited type of anemia that leads to bone marrow failure. Though considered primarily a blood disease, FA may affect all systems of the body. It is a complex and chronic disorder that is psychologically demanding. FA is also a cancer-prone disease, affecting patients decades earlier than the general population.

On Saturday, March 19th, Kaps for Kendall is hosting a Knit-In called Knit Away FA! Many Colorado knitters will spend the day together knitting hats to donate to patients undergoing treatments that cause hair loss. In the next few weeks I will also be collecting sponsorships, 100% of which will go to the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund.

I know finances are tight for a lot of people right now, but if you have even a few dollars to spare  for this wonderful cause I would greatly appreciate it! If you are interested in donating, you can do so by check or online:

  1. Go to Knit Away FA!
  2. Scroll midway down to Sponsor a Knitter
  3. Choose my name – Terrie Durgin
  4. Press Pay Now

If you are in Colorado and would like to join the Knit-In, you can register here!

Thank you so much for your support and for reading this post :)

  2. Hi! I sponsored your knitting on March 19! Also forgot to tell you that I like the cowl you made – looks very warm. Nice photo of both your cats!
    Love YOU!
