Birthday, Cards, Die Cutting, Embossing, Stamping

Happy 50th Birthday!

Happy April! It’s a cool and windy weekend, but it’s so nice to see the buds on the trees. We’re definitely moving closer to Spring. I hope the weather is nice where you are, too.

We recently had a big birthday in the family, and I wanted to make a special card. I really like using these balloons for birthday cards, but I wanted to do something different from the cards I’ve made in the past. I took a piece of pretty blue cardstock, trimmed down to 4.25″ x 5.5″, and spritzed it with a little water. Then I used an embossing folder to give my background panel some texture and adhered it to a white card base. I used the same blue cardstock to stamp the ‘birthday’ sentiment and cut it with a rectangle die.

I used a large ‘happy’ die to cut the word from 2 pieces of white cardstock and 1 piece of graphite glitter cardstock, then stacked them for a bit of dimension. I used the same graphite glitter cardstock, along with pearl glitter cardstock for the balloons. I tied thread around the bottom of the balloons, then laid everything on my card to get the placement right. I glued the balloons on first, leaving the thread loose, glued the ‘happy’ over the threads, then glued ‘birthday’ on top of the ‘happy’ sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by :) Enjoy your day!

I’m also submitting this card to Simon Says: Happy Birthday challenge.
