First FO’s of the Year!

On Sunday I went to Sam’s baby shower. I had all these great ideas about what I was going to knit for the baby; of course, it didn’t quite work out the way I’d planned :)

I ended up finishing my gifts late Saturday night and I wasn’t able to take any good pictures, so I want to thank Sam for taking all of the awesome pictures below!

The first thing I finished are the adorable Saartje’s Bootees. I’ve been wanting to knit these for a long time, so I was happy to finally have a recipient to make them for.

This lovely yarn is Red Rocks Fiber Works Aspen in the Pink Ribbon colorway. These were a really quick knit…it was the seeming and button holes that took a while :)

I just love all the super cute creatures from Danger Crafts, and I really wanted to make one to add to Sam’s nursery decorations.

I wanted to use the rest of my KH Knitting Mama yarn by holding it double to make a larger bear. Unfortunately, I was afraid I would run out of yarn so just used a single strand and ended up with a tiny bear! I wasn’t very happy with how I attached his arms and ears, and I couldn’t get the face to work, so my poor little bear is a bit sad.

At the end of the baby shower, look what Sam gave us!! She decorated each bag with pretty paper, and we all received one of these adorable “knitted hat” candles. She’s so thoughtful!
