I had so much fun at Kaps for Kendall’s Knit Away FA event on Saturday!! I joined more than 50 women to spend the day knitting hats. I want to send out a big THANK YOU!! to everyone who sponsored me and the other participants…together we raised over $7,000.00 for the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund!
There were a lot of great prizes from some wonderful sponsors and they had many prize drawings throughout the day. There were also numerous “Easter Egg Toss” breaks…plastic eggs filled with candy and possibly a ticket. Whoever got the ticket got to pick a gift from the front table.
Besides all the fun prizes it was great to just sit with friends and knit the day away! In the picture above, Stacey, Genia and I are showing off the first hats we completed. I brought 3 hats with me to donate, and I was able to knit 2 more hats during the event. A friend’s mom also donated 3 hat/scarf sets that she crocheted.
Here are the Chemo Cap and the Basic Guy Hat I knit. I know the 2nd picture isn’t very good, but it’s a basic 2×2 rib hat in a dark green color.
I’m not sure how many hats Kaps for Kendall received on Saturday, but I know a few people brought in hundreds that they had collected, and a lot of people finished hats throughout the day as well.
I think this event was very successful and I hope they decide to host it every year from now on! I’d happily join in every year :)

Oh, Terrie~how beautiful! It is always a great feeling to be a part of something that is cause for a greater good. I will look into the group to find out more information. Nice to see Stacey. Kindly tell her hello for me the next time you see her.

i can’t wait to see you and hopefully stacey again. We’ll be coming to Winter Park again this August for Minis in the Mountains! Nat won their logo contest and won us free lodging in a 2 bdr condo! WOO HOO i plan to have everyone up for some dinner and a movie and knitting or drinking or something fun like that. They say the kitchen is fully equipped so all we need is food!
