Vacation

Vacation’s Over

I have to go back to work tomorrow, and my vacation wasn’t quite as relaxing or “knitting productive” as I had hoped. But that’s ok, I still had a good time :)

Last weekend and early in the week Nathan & I ran errands and got all the supplies he needed for his fishing trip in Alaska. Since he’s never done anything like this before, we had to get him a lot of new stuff (which is, of course, both fun and expensive!) Nathan got everything packed up Wednesday morning, and in the afternoon I took him and his brother to the airport.

After the airport, I went down to see Stacey. She was getting ready for Camp Wannaknitknit this weekend! I wish I could have gone with you guys!!! We got a little knitting done and watched “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. Look at this cute Offhand Designs bag Stacey gave me:

I love stripes :)

On Thursday I met my friend Sally at Twenty Ninth Street in Boulder. We didn’t have very much time to look around, but it’s a really cool outdoor shopping mall with a lot of great stores. We ate lunch at Laudisio, which was very good…we even got dessert! Then we went to BeadforLife. I heard about this place last October, but had never gone there before. Ugandan women make beautiful jewelry out of recycled paper and all sales proceeds go to BeadforLife, which is the non-profit organization “that supports community development projects in health, education, employment, and housing to the impoverished in Uganda.” They had a lot of great stuff there, so I finally chose this long single-strand necklace:

Thursday evening I met Anne (my mother-in-law) so we could buy a gift for the baby shower on Sunday. Then we went to dinner at Olive Garden. Yum!

On Friday I took my car in for an oil change, which was a totally wasted trip since it doesn’t actually need in yet! Apparently the oil change light can come on at any time, long before you need to get the oil changed. Whatever. I had to pick up a couple things while I was out, anyway.

Saturday turned out to be quite a relaxing day! Anne, Carrie (sister-in-law) and I went to Spa Universaire in Denver. Neither Carrie nor I had ever gone to a spa before, so it was a lot of fun :) We each got a massage and facial, and then we went out for lunch. It was really nice to have a girls day out :)

Today the 3 of us met up again for Carrie’s sisters baby shower. I’m so glad it isn’t as hot here right now! We were able to sit outside on the back porch and enjoy the day and everyone’s company!

I wish I didn’t have to go back to work already, but at least that means it’s getting closer to Wednesday when Nathan gets home! In the 7 years we’ve been together, this is the first time he’s gone somewhere without me, and I miss him!

I hope you all had a good weekend! I’m looking forward to joining the Arvada knitters on Tuesday night…I’ve missed you guys!

  1. They say that distance makes the heart grow stronger, I totally agree with that! It will be so fun for him to come back and hear all about his trip!

  2. I really love the bag. I’m sorry you couldn’t make it up this year, but hopefully next year. The first time in 7 years, wow, that’s really hard to imagine. He’ll be back soon!

  3. Sounds like a fun vacation! Spas are so much fun. I say that like I’m a pro or something… only been once too – but I wouldn’t mind being a pro. :D
Anyway, hope to see you at a knitting group soon.
