I have been meaning to post for a while now, but I wan’t sure what to say. I tend to be a perfectionist and want to make sure everything is just right before I post anything. But, I know that now is not the time to be silent. I am angry that systemic racism is still at work in this country. I am angry and saddened by the appalling killings of Black people that continue to happen. No one should be scared to take a walk in their neighborhood, exercise outside, or even wear a face covering to stay safe during this pandemic because of the color of their skin. Black lives matter. I do not tolerate racism, hatred or violence.
Here a some of the things I’ve been doing to help and learn more:
- Signing petitions against racism, inequality & injustice
- Donating to organizations supporting Black lives
- Learning about anti-racism from this TED conference conversation
- Reading books, currently Stamped From The Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi
- Following a more diverse group of people on social media
I also made a few cards recently using some wonderful sentiments from a free digital stamp by Gina K Designs. For each of the cards I used either a circle or square die to cut the sentiment.
For this card, I used the Peeking Daisy die from Simon Says Stamp. On the next 3 cards I used a stencil and ink blending.
This card uses a pretty Floral stencil from Gina K. Designs.
I used the lovely Leaf Burst stencil from Altenew for this card.
My last card uses an old leaf stencil from Martha Stewart.
Finally, I wanted to share a recent purchase I made from The Gray Muse. If you haven’t heard of this shop, and you like enamel pins, stickers and stamps, you have to check it out! I just love her pins, and recently she designed some stickers for a Charitable Collection. Four of the stickers below are part of this collection, and she will be donating 100% of net sales to social justice organizations.
Thank you for spending some time with me today! Take care!
